2013 5 oz America The Beautiful - Perry's Victory and Peace Park
The Perry's Victory and Peace Park is the second America the Beautiful release of 2013 and the 17th overall in the 5 oz Silver bullion series.
Perry’s Victory and International Peace Park was established in 1936 in Put-in-Bay, Ohio. The memorial features a 352 foot Doric column, one of the tallest monuments in the United States. Nearly 200,000 people visit this park every year.
Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial commemorates the Battle of Lake Erie that took place near Ohio's South Bass Island, in which Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry led a fleet to victory in one of the most significant naval battles to occur in the War of 1812. Located on an isthmus on the island, the memorial also celebrates the lasting peace between Britain, Canada, and the United States that followed the war.
